The no-frills guide to Crouton: Ubuntu Linux on your Chromebook

from blogs.ncs-nj.org/minecraft/2012/12/28/minecraft-on-a-chromebook/
A few days ago I installed Crouton on my Chromebook Pixel, after a couple hours of scouring the internet and following several guides. Here's a summary of the steps that I followed:
  1. Enable dev mode in chrome OS
  2. Install crouton with Ubuntu Trusty + Unity, keyboard, sound and touch support:
    • sudo sh ~/Downloads/crouton -t unity,keyboard,audio,touch -r trusty
  3. Change resolution and set it on each start (mostly needed for Chromebook Pixel)
  4. Adjust brightness with the `brightness` console command
  5. Switch scrolling direction to natural

Done! Install your favorite linux software, personalize your desktop, enjoy the enhanced performance and extended battery life... :D
